Temenos Appoints VMWare Veteran Jean-Pierre Brulard as CEO

DATE POSTED:April 23, 2024

Banking software company Temenos has appointed Jean-Pierre Brulard as CEO, effective May 1.

Brulard will succeed Andreas Andreades, who will retire from the company, Temenos said in a Tuesday (April 23) press release.

Brulard was most recently with VMWare, a $61 billion U.S.-listed cloud computing and virtualization software company, according to the release. He was with the company 14 years and served as executive vice president, worldwide sales and a member of the executive committee before the company’s sale to Broadcom in 2023.

Temenos highlighted Brulard’s track record in sales and commercial leadership with software, infrastructureand technology companies, noting that he drove VMWare’s business transformation and has knowledge of the financial services sector.

“His management of the migration of the VMWare business model to subscription and SaaS [Software-as-a-Service] whilst delivering ARR [annual recurring revenue] and revenue growth was a critical factor in his appointment,” Thibault de Tersant, non-executive chairman of the board at Temenos, said in the release.

Brulard said in the release that he is excited to “lead the next phase of growth for Temenos.”

“The financial services industry is going through a period of significant technological transformation and with the quality and breadth of solutions, Temenos is perfectly positioned to work with clients to lead this strategic change,” Brulard said.

Retiring CEO Andreades has been with Temenos for 25 years, including 11 years as executive chairman, the release said.

Andreades took on the role of CEO in January 2023 to lead the company during the board’s search for a replacement after the departure of CEO Max Chuard.

Chuard was with Temenos for 20 years, holding the roles of chief financial officer, chief operating officer and CEO during that time, PYMNTS reported at the time. It was reported that he stepped down amid pressure from an activist investor to resign and after the company reported declining profits. Temenos said at the time that Chuard’s tenure saw the company shift to its SaaS offerings.

“I would like to thank Andreas Andreades for taking the CEO role during the extended search period,” de Tersant said in the company’s Tuesday press release. “Temenos delivered strong performance in 2023 and I am grateful for the efforts and contribution of Andreas to make it happen.”
