Telegram has introduced passkey support in its latest update, enabling users to log in using biometric authentication such as Face ID or Touch ID. This new feature removes the reliance on SMS codes or traditional passwords, aligning the app with the passwordless security standards adopted by major tech platforms.
The passkeys rely on unique cryptographic keys stored directly on the user’s device, which can also sync across ecosystems via password managers like iCloud and Google.
To enable the feature, users must navigate to Settings > Privacy and Security > Passkey. Beyond the security enhancements, this update also adds the ability to include audio in Stories and introduces new options for gift purchases.
