DATE POSTED:February 2, 2026
Respawn to end Apex Legends support on original Switch

Respawn Entertainment announced it will end support for Apex Legends on the original Nintendo Switch after the release of Season 30, with the change effective August 4, 2026.

The developer specified that Season 29 represents the final update for the game on the Nintendo Switch platform. This update concludes ongoing content deliveries to the original console, shifting focus to the Nintendo Switch 2 and other supported platforms thereafter. Players on the original Switch can continue accessing the game until the specified date, allowing time to complete ongoing activities or prepare for platform transitions.

In a post on X, the Respawn team stated, “Season 29 will be the final update for Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch.” This communication provides clear notice to the Switch community regarding the impending support termination.

Hey legends, we want to share an important update about Apex Legends on the Nintendo Switch.

Respawn emphasized continuity for player investments, noting, “All players’ progress, purchases, and earnings are tied to their individual EA accounts.” The studio further clarified, “Everything that has been earned or purchased, including Apex Coins and cosmetics, will carry over to Nintendo Switch 2, even if you purchase Nintendo Switch 2 after August 4, 2026.” This account-based system ensures seamless transfer of battle pass progress, in-game currencies, and cosmetic items across compatible hardware.

Apex Legends launched on the Nintendo Switch in 2021, two years following its initial release on other platforms such as PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The Nintendo Switch 2 delivers an improved playing experience for the title compared to the original model, accommodating enhanced performance capabilities.
