Yet more evidence has emerged to suggest that Metal Gear Solid 4 will soon be freed from PlayStation 3 jail and released onto modern consoles for MGS fans new and old to play the classic game.
In an interview with IGN, Noriaki Okamura, a producer at Konami, dropped the biggest hint yet that something is afoot. Let’s face it, it wasn’t so much a hint as a giant neon sign.
IGN asked Okamura directly about the chances of MGS4 coming to modern consoles, and his response was enlightening.
“We definitely are aware of this situation with MGS4. Unfortunately, we can’t really say too much at the moment with Vol. 1 containing MGS 1-3 dot dot dot… you can probably connect the dots! Right now we still are internally concerned about what we should be doing for the future of the series. So sorry, we can’t really reveal anything at the moment. But stay tuned!”
What other hints are there that Metal Gear Solid 4 will come to modern consoles?Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has been stuck in the land of the PlayStation 3 since its 2008 launch, with no sign of a remaster or rerelease… until some time last year, when things started to look a little more promising.
Shortly after the Master Collection Vol. 1 (which included Metal Gears 1, 2, and 3) launched, an eagle-eyed fan spotted some placeholder code on Konami’s website that could indicate plans for Metal Gear Solid 4, Peace Walker, and MGS5 to be added in the future.
The new Metal Gear Solid website added buttons to the timeline for the games in Master Collection Vol. 1, but if you inspect the page, there are placeholder buttons for MGS4, Peace Walker, and MGSV as well.

It’s now widely accepted (though still unconfirmed) that these three games will make up Master Collection Vol. 2, which is set to be released on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S, bringing these classics to modern gamers.
If that wasn’t enough, late last year David Hayter, voice actor of the original Solid Snake posted on X that he “had a pretty cool meeting” alongside a photo of him posing with a model of Snake from MGS4.

We don’t yet know when Master Collection Vol. 2 will be released, but you won’t have to wait too long to get your next fix of Metal Gear – Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be coming in November.
