How long is Hyper Light Breaker early access?
It’s been a number of years since we first experienced the fun and frenetic gameplay of Hyper Light Drifter and in 2025, Heart Machine is back with Hyper Light Breaker.
Like a lot of games from a somewhat smaller development team, Hyper Light Breaker has an Early Access period which is available for those that want to get some time in before the 1.0 experience goes live.
But how long is this Hyper Light Breaker Early Access? I hear you ask. Well, here, we’ll delve into what we know so you are fully informed on prospective time scales.
How long will Hyper Light Breaker be in Early Access for?Hyper Light Breaker will be in Early Access for “around a year” as stated by Heart Machine — the game’s developers — in the official Discord.
This does seem like quite a long time for a game of this ilk to be in a pre-release phase but it is a much different experience to that of its spiritual predecessor so there are a lot more components to refine.
Hyper Light Breaker does use the paid Early Access model coming in at $29.99 if you want the privilege of experiencing what it has to offer before full release.
While some are hesitant to pick up an Early Access title, it is brilliant to get in ahead of the curve, likely pay less for the game, and get to learn mechanics.
According to Heart Machine, this price could even increase “during the Early Access period”, never mind at the 1.0 launch, so if you are a fan of what these devs do, it’s best to get in now before any rises.
What is nice is that you will also receive a copy of Hyper Light Drifter if you purchase Hyper Light Breaker before January 28, 2025, making it an even more attractive offer if you don’t have a Steam copy of that game.
Unfortunately, if you already have the Steam version of Drifter, the devs “really wanted it to be giftable” but Steam doesn’t have that functionality any more.
There’s no console variant at the moment either so it’s not even like you’d be able to select a different platform to redeem the game on.
