Google completes its largest-ever acquisition with $32 billion Wiz deal

DATE POSTED:March 11, 2026
Google completes its largest-ever acquisition with billion Wiz deal

Google completed its $32 billion cash acquisition of Wiz, marking the largest purchase in the technology giant’s history. The deal officially closes a process that began with a rejected offer and ended with regulatory approvals across two continents. Google announced the completion of the acquisition on Thursday.

This acquisition represents a significant expansion of Google Cloud’s security portfolio amid rising threats in multi-cloud environments. The purchase price surpasses Google’s previous record acquisition of Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion in 2012. Wiz generated $1 billion in annual recurring revenue in 2025, providing immediate financial scale to the combined entity.

Wiz will integrate into Google Cloud but will maintain its independent brand and commitment to securing customers across all cloud environments. Google stated the acquisition is an investment to improve cloud security and enable organizations to build fast and securely across any cloud or AI platform. The combined companies will deliver a unified security platform to help organizations deal with threats faster.

U.S. regulators approved the deal in November 2025 following antitrust probes. European Union regulators granted approval in February 2026, also after antitrust reviews. The regulatory clearance allowed the companies to finalize the transaction announced in March 2025.

Google initially approached Wiz in 2024 with an offer to acquire the startup for $23 billion. Wiz walked away from the $23 billion offer; CEO Assaf Rappaport said he believed the business could grow to be much larger. Google and Wiz revived acquisition talks in the first few months of 2025.

Wiz provides a security platform that protects major cloud environments by preventing and responding to cybersecurity threats. The companies plan to address increased security vulnerabilities and prompt-based attacks through a unified platform. Wiz has utilized AI to improve threat detection and investigation across cloud layers.

The deal positions Google to compete more effectively for enterprise clients requiring multi-cloud security solutions. Large organizations increasingly work across Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud. Google Cloud gains a platform to secure these diverse environments.
