DATE POSTED:September 19, 2024

Ahead of a rally on Wednesday (September 18) former U.S. President Donald Trump made a pitstop to a crypto-themed bar where he bought a burger with Bitcoin.

In a video captured by Fox News, the Republican nominee can be seen entering the Greenwich-based Pubkey which is themed around cryptocurrency.

With assistance from a staff member, the business mogul completed the transaction and became the first U.S. president to publicly use the Bitcoin network.

In a social media post, the bar said Trump bought burgers and described the situation as having been “one of the most historic transactions in #bitcoin history…”

The appearance happened before he later attended his Long Island rally, held on Wednesday night. It was also two days after Trump showed support for his sons’ crypto project World Liberty Financial.

On the launch date, September 16, Trump joined a Twitter Spaces live discussion hosted on the World Liberty Financial X account to talk further about cryptocurrency.

Donald Trump continues to show his support for Bitcoin and crypto

The nominee has routinely shown his support to this community and has even promised to make the US the “global crypto capital.”

Earlier this month, the 45th POTUS spoke at the Economic Club of New York and said: “…instead of attacking industries of the future, we’ll embrace them, including making America the world capital for crypto and Bitcoin.”

He also pledged to “eliminate a minimum of 10 old regulations for every one new regulation” and said this could be “quite easily” done.

In other events, Trump has declared “if you’re for crypto, you better vote for Trump.”

While the topic of cryptocurrency didn’t occur at the presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, there could be further opportunities for the two to discuss.

The election will take place on November 5, with both hopefuls ramping up their appearances ahead of the date.
