The Disc Golf Pro Tour (DGPT) has announced that fans are now able to engage in ‘various gaming opportunities’ including Daily Fantasy Sports and regulated sports wagering.
The news came in on April 1, with the addition to start this very weekend at the MVP Music City Open.
Those interested are able to now do so through an NXT bets link which should show available gaming options in their location. Regulatory approval at the state level is required though to offer gaming in each jurisdiction, with additional states added as approvals are secured.
A ‘how to wager’ guide has also been created, which provides information on how to research and choose a gaming platform or sportsbook, as well as giving an overview of the different kinds of wagering options available, how odds work in disc golf, and other relevant insights.
DGPT creates an official gambling policy ahead of sports wagering offering“We know that for many sports fans, participating in daily fantasy or wagering is part of how they connect with the competition,” said Jeff Spring, DGPT CEO and Tour Director.
“We’re excited to see sportsbooks and other gaming platforms open these opportunities to disc golf fans in a way that is aligned with our values of transparency and accountability for all involved.
“By ensuring these offerings are hosted in a secure and regulated environment, the DGPT is focusing on integrity, player education, and compliance. We’re excited about new ways for fans to engage in the sport, expanding the reach of disc golf, and ensuring that players and events are supported by clear policies and strong safeguards.”
Ahead of bringing in this change, the DGPT has developed and published an official gambling policy and has partnered with ALT Sports Data. This company is a data provider in the sports industry and already works across other markets like in Formula 1, the World Surf League and the SuperMotocross World Championship.
The company will serve as the Tour’s official partner for betting market creation and distribution to sportsbooks and other regulated gaming platforms.
