black ops 6 prestige

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, while looking to reinvent some of the formula, is also revisiting some of the classic features fans of the franchise know and love.

One of these is the Prestige system, something that has had a few switch ups in recent years, and Treyarch is taking it back to the glory days.

Here is what we know about the Black Ops 6 Prestige system and all the fancy new Prestige icons that really entice you into making the jump to the next level.

How the Black Ops 6 Prestige system works

Treyarch has opted to return to the Classic Prestige system of old for Black Ops 6, with ten prestiges to make it through.

This means you’ll have to reach level 55, choose to prestige if you want to, and then do it all over again to progress.

While you might be familiar with this system, there are a couple of tweaks that make it feel fresh and interesting.

The main one of these is Prestige Master which can be accessed after completing all ten prestiges.

When you reach level 55 at tenth prestige, the grind doesn’t stop as you’ll be able to keep going all the way up to level 1000, gaining exclusive rewards as you progress.

This means if you want to get all rewards that are available to you, you’ll have to put some serious hours in.

What happens when you prestige in Black Ops 6?

Since the Classic Prestige system is back, when you choose to prestige, you’ll need to be aware as to what you’ll lose.

Here is what happens when you prestige in Black Ops 6:

  • Your Player Level resets to Level 1.
  • All Level Unlocks (weapons, equipment, Scorestreaks) are relocked, and you’ll need to unlock them again as you level up.
  • Your Loadouts will reset.
  • Your stats, like your Elimination/Death Ratio, will reset, but your Lifetime Career stats remain accessible.

However, even though you lose access to all of the weapons you’ve unlocked, there is one saving grace – the Permanent Unlock Token.

Each time you Prestige, you receive a Permanent Unlock, which allows you to unlock any item that is normally locked behind a level requirement.

For instance, if you want to unlock the Kompakt 92 SMG, which normally requires reaching Level 49, you can use your Permanent Unlock to access it immediately.

You’ll receive ten Permanent Unlocks in total, one for each Prestige level, so it’s important to think carefully about how you use them. Once you hit Prestige 10, your Player Level Unlocks become fully available as you enter Prestige Master.

Additionally, there are also Prestige Rewards which are given out as you prestige, as well as throughout leveling toward the next one.

For earning Prestige 1, for example, you’ll earn the Nacht Raider Weaver skin as well as a bunch of other goodies for hitting certain level milestones.

These are great additional extras and certainly act as a serious incentive to keep playing!
