In the dynamic world of cryptocurrency, following narratives when investing is key. Today, I’m going to talk about a promising project called Aether that combines three of the hottest narratives !
What is Aethir ?Aether is decentralized cloud infrastructure built on Arbitrum that serves as an intermediary between people who want to lend their underutilized GPU and people or companies that need them for training AI models and for the gaming industry. All of this is cheaper and easier to access than their Web 2.0 counterparts such as AWS.
We can compare it with IoNet, but Aether also has the gaming narrative as a central part of its objective to democratize decentralized GPU services for the gaming industry.
They already have a great number of strong GPUs ready to train AI models and gaming tasks :
The Aethir Network
The network relies on three key elements:
- The Container
- The Indexer
- The Checker
The Container is the GPU that is lent for users to borrow. It is where the actual use of the cloud takes place.
The indexer’s role is to match consumers with suitable Containers. It prioritizes containers based on the lowest service fee, best experience, or the best overall evaluation index.
The Checker ensures the integrity and performance of Containers within the Aether network. It performs checks to ensure the quality of the network, for example, by acting as a consumer to test applications and analyze interactions, ensuring compliance with claimed specifications.
The decentralization plan of Aether started with the public sale of checker nodes, with over 73,000 Checker Nodes (worth $100 million) sold to more than 20,000 community members across the globe.
The Team And Partners
The team is very experienced. For illustration, we can cite Daniel Wang, who was the CEO of Riot Games China (the studio behind League Of Legends). They are almost a hundred in their team worldwide, but this includes subcontractors.
They also made a lot of partnerships in the crypto world, including IoNet and Magic Eden (A multi-chain NFT platform of Web 3.0 gaming).
BackersAether is backed by various companies such as Bybit, Big Brain Holdings, and notably Maelstrom, the company of Arthur Hayes (ex-CEO of Bitmex).
They’ve raised $9 million, and if you count the sale of $100 million worth of nodes, that’s quite a lot. However, it’s important to note that they’ve paid social media influencers to help spread the word about the nodes.
The Token ($ATH)The token has no launch date, but we might see it in Q2 2024. However, we have some information about the token. The max supply will be 42 billion tokens, and it will be launched on the Arbitrum network.
$ATH will play a multifunctional role in the ecosystem:
- Transaction payments
- Staking for node operators as collateral that can be slashed if misconduct occurs
- Governance, token holders can propose and vote.
The $ATH token is not launched yet, but it’s planned to go out in the coming months, and to reward the community, they plan an airdrop for people who completed specific tasks.
After completing a task, you will be rewarded with a badge associated with it. The number of badges will count for the amount of airdrop. However, there are no official criteria for the airdrop distribution.
