Apple’s upcoming iOS 26 software update, scheduled for public release this fall, will not support several older iPhone models, a change from prior compatibility. The list of compatible devices has been released.
Three iPhone models previously supported by iOS 18 will not be compatible with iOS 26. These models are the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.
The following iPhones will support iOS 26:
While these models will run iOS 26, not all features will be available across all compatible devices. For instance, AI features within iOS 26 will be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models. This tiered feature availability was also observed with iOS 18, where Apple Intelligence features were limited to newer iPhone models.
iOS 26 is currently available in beta.
