Spreedly and EBANX Expand Access to Brazilian eCommerce Space

DATE POSTED:November 12, 2025

Open payments provider Spreedly has expanded its Latin America-focused partnership with payments services firm EBANX.

This newest collaboration, announced Wednesday (Nov. 12), will see EBANX assist Spreedly in providing support for Brazil’s Pix Automático and NuPay, thus giving merchants access to two high-profile payment innovations in a $378 billion e-commerce market.

As Spreedly noted in a news release, Pix Brazil’s central-bank-run instant payment system has seen a surge in popularity, processing $5.3 trillion per year, and is set to exceed credit cards for online payments by 2025.

“The adoption of Pix Automático and NuPay, which focus on recurring and installment-based payments, has been complex and costly because each local payment service provider (PSP) introduces features at different times,” the release said. “Spreedly’s open payments platform solves this by giving merchants immediate access to Pix Automático and NuPay without multiple builds or provider lock-in.”

Aside from these two payment methods, Spreedly’s and EBANX’s partnership lets merchants sell products and services to Brazilian customers using credit and debit cards, Pix for single transactions, MercadoPago for e-wallets, and Boleto Bancário for cash-based methods.

“Through EBANX, Spreedly now covers nearly 100% of the payment methods in Brazilian e-commerce — the largest market in Latin America and one of the fastest-growing digital markets in the world,” the release added.

Earlier this year Spreedly and EBANX launched a partnership aimed at helping international companies access local payment options in the Latin American (LatAm) region.

“As Latin America’s digital commerce rapidly grows, especially in countries like Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia, international companies are increasingly looking to localize their payment offerings,” the companies said in a news release in April.

Writing about Pix last month, PYMNTS noted that the platform’s success was part of a larger embrace of digital payments in Latin America.

“Cash’s dominance has eroded over the last decade,” that report said. “By 2030, researchers project two-thirds of all eCommerce spending in Latin America will move through digital rails.”

Pix, that report noted, processed 64 billion transactions in 2024, a 53% jump year over year, exceeding debit and credit card volumes by 80%. New features like tap-to-pay and automatic recurring payments are projected to boost adoption even further.

Other parts of the region are flocking to mobile wallets, which are now used by 62% of Latin Americans for regular payments, with Argentina and Panama showing the highest adoption at a respective 65% and 63%.
