Snapchat opens Creator Subscriptions to all eligible users

DATE POSTED:April 2, 2026
Snapchat opens Creator Subscriptions to all eligible users

Snapchat announced that its Creator Subscriptions are now available to all eligible Snap creators, according to a press release sent to Social Media Today. This change aims to enhance monetization opportunities for creators and encourage engagement on the platform.

The Creator Subscription program launched in February and allows users to monetize content through exclusive offerings such as direct Snaps, subscriber-only Stories, and priority replies. Initially, the program was limited to Snap Stars, public figures, or verified creators with significant audiences.

Now, any user who qualifies for a Snapchat Creator Account can enable subscriptions. To become eligible, users must have a Public Profile, be active posters on Stories and Spotlight, and demonstrate audience growth. Snapchat did not specify exact qualification metrics, but the creator revenue share program reportedly requires 50,000 followers and 15,000 cumulative view hours per month, including at least 3,000 hours from Spotlight.

Some users have reported qualifying with as few as 30,000 followers, though eligibility appears to be subject to Snapchat’s discretion. Qualified users can explore subscription options, bolstering their ability to build monetizable communities within the app.

Snapchat made the announcement during its first-ever “Snappys” award ceremony on March 31, where it recognized top creators. The ceremony was described by Snapchat as “a new flagship moment for Snapchat,” emphasizing the role of Snap Stars as cultural leaders across various sectors, including entertainment and sports.

Snapchat is known for its innovative features that cater to a younger demographic and foster content creation. The expanded Creator Subscription program marks a significant step in its strategy to maintain user engagement and promote content monetization.
