Samsung TVs gain native Google Cast support
Samsung TVs are set to receive a significant upgrade with the addition of native Google Cast support, ending the reliance on Smart View. This capability will be available on select Samsung TV models from 2023 and 2024 through a One UI Tizen update.
The update’s rollout is gradual, with reports of users already observing the feature on models like the S90D OLED. The integration of Google Cast permits users to cast videos, music, and photos directly from Android devices, ChromeOS devices, or the Chrome browser on laptops.
In addition to Google Cast, the update will introduce a new home screen along with features such as “Universal Gestures” for improved navigation. Samsung has confirmed that its 2026 TV lineup will include built-in Google Cast, further emphasizing the shift in its approach to casting functionality.
The availability of the update hinges on specific TV models and regional factors. As a result, it may take weeks or months for all users to receive the upgrade, reflecting a staggered deployment strategy across Samsung’s product range.
One Reddit user noted the recent update on their S90D OLED, highlighting the quiet nature of the rollout. Samsung has not announced a specific timetable for when the update will reach all compatible models.
