The Tulalip Resort Casino, based in Washington state, has finally opened its enormous 70,250-square-foot expansion. Originally announced in 2023, and construction beginning in 2024, the Tulalip is still building around its customers until “late 2026”. Its current offerings for food and drink will remain open during construction, according to the press release.

The renovation cost a reported $60 million plus, more than four times the 2015 expansion of $15 million. That reported figure comes from Puget Sound Business Journal, as the tribes in charge of the Tulalip didn’t disclose the figure outright.

However, the expansion brings a lot more money-making devices, as it adds 400 new slot machines to the mix. As pointed out in the press release, this brings the total number up to 2,600 machines throughout the complex. Of course, the nearly 40 tables are still available as well.

“The added gaming and other amenities this expansion provides are second to none, and now with the continued renovation throughout the rest of the property, the excitement just continues to grow.” – Marci Fryberg, Tulalip Gaming Organization, President and COO

The overhaul includes highlighting the Tulalip Tribes’ culture and traditions, with a big focus on the coastal aspect of the tribe’s history. A blue and grey theming is placed inside, with a tribute to the sunsets of the Pacific Northwest.

Speaking in the press release, Marci Fryberg, President/COO of the Tulalip Gaming Organization, said:

“We are excited to welcome guests to this beautiful, expanded property. From the moment you step through the new entrances, it is evident that the thoughtful planning and hard work by our team exceeded our goal to provide an unparalleled guest experience.

“The added gaming and other amenities this expansion provides are second to none, and now with the continued renovation throughout the rest of the property, the excitement just continues to grow.”

Who built the new Tulalip expansion?

Tulalip hired out Rice Fergus Miller, a self-described “leading architecture, interior design and planning firm”, which has had a hand in building several casinos already. These include 7 Cedars Resort and the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort, also based in Washington.
