Meta is reportedly developing AI smart glasses in collaboration with Prada, according to a CNBC report published Tuesday. The launch date for the Prada smart glasses remains unspecified.
This reported collaboration indicates Meta’s intention to extend its AI smart glasses technology to fashion brands beyond its existing partnership with EssilorLuxottica. Meta’s previous AI smart glasses were made in partnership with EssilorLuxottica under the Ray-Ban brand name.
Prada is not owned by EssilorLuxottica; however, the fashion brand has partnered with EssilorLuxottica for eyewear development for decades, and the companies recently renewed their partnership. Meta has sold millions of Ray-Ban Meta AI smart glasses. The company also previewed a collaboration with Oakley, another EssilorLuxottica brand, earlier this week.
The Oakley smart glasses, as reported by Bloomberg and cited by CNBC, might be announced as early as Friday and could be priced around $360.
