PNC to Add 300 Branches by 2030, Building Coast-to-Coast Franchise

DATE POSTED:November 7, 2025

PNC Bank added another 100 new branches to the number it plans to open by 2030 as part of its effort to build a national, coast-to-coast franchise.

This brings the total number of planned new locations to 300, when added to those PNC announced in November 2024, the bank said in a Friday (Nov. 7) press release.

In total, PNC is investing $2 billion in new branches in nearly 20 markets across the United States, according to the release. It plans to hire 2,000 new employees by 2030 in support of this expansion.

The bank also said in the release that it reaffirmed its plan to renovate its entire existing branch network by 2029.

The new branches will join the 2,200 PNC already operates nationwide, which ranks its branch network as the fourth largest in the U.S., per the release.

“Our branches serve as vital community hubs where trusted relationships are built and financial aspirations are made real,” Alex Overstrom, head of retail banking at PNC, said in the release. “The build-out of these 300 new branches allows us to deliver our unique brand of hospitality and financial advice to more clients in neighborhoods across the country.”

The markets in which the newly announced branches will be built include Chicago and several cities in the Southeast, according to the release.

PNC plans to add 25 new branches in Chicago, 35 in Nashville, and 40 in six other cities across the Southeast: Fort Myers, Lakeland, Sarasota, Asheville, Winston-Salem and Wilmington, North Carolina, the release said.

This is the second time PNC has increased the number of branches it plans to build and renovate.

The bank announced in February 2024 that it would invest $1 billion to open more than 100 new locations and renovate 1,200 existing ones through 2028.

Then, in November 2024, it raised those numbers, saying it would invest $1.5 billion to open 200 new branches and renovate 1,400 existing ones.

According to the Friday press release, the cities in which the previously announced new branches will be built include Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando, Raleigh, San Antonio and Tampa.

These totals do not include the branches set to be added by PNC’s pending acquisition of FirstBank, which are in Denver and Phoenix, per the release.

“Collectively, these investments reflect PNC’s dedication to building a national, coast-to-coast franchise,” the bank said in the release.
