Surprise! Google is pushing out an April 2025 update for its Pixel Watch lineup (Pixel Watch, Pixel Watch 2, and Pixel Watch 3) based on Wear OS 5.1 and Android 15. The update arrives sooner than expected, addressing lingering bugs from the March Wear OS 5.1 release.
The new build, BP1A.250305.019.W7, succeeds BP1A.250305.019.W3, aiming to resolve issues rather than introduce new features. The security patch remains dated March 5, 2025.
While an official April 2025 changelog is still pending, Google previously acknowledged delayed notification issues experienced by some users, suggesting this update tackles those problems. To initiate the download, repeatedly tap the “Your watch is up to date” screen (Settings > System > System updates). Speed up the process by disabling Bluetooth in Connectivity preferences to prioritize Wi-Fi.

In tandem with the bug fixes, Google’s community post unveiled that Scam Detection (in-call) is available on the Pixel Watch 2 and 3, provided they’re paired with a Pixel 9.
Here’s how to set it up on your phone:
Expanding on the March Pixel Feature Drop’s AI-powered Scam Detection for Pixel 9 calls, this update extends scam call notifications to your wrist: the watch alerts you, especially useful if you’re answering from the watch, wearing headphones, or haven’t yet accessed your phone.
Google has transitioned to quarterly Wear OS updates for the Pixel Watch, with the next major update slated for June. However, smaller patches, as seen today, remain a possibility. Most feature introductions are now delivered via app updates, exemplified by the earlier Scam Detection announcement.
