Human Torch and The Thing join Marvel Rivals
The Human Torch and The Thing join Marvel Rivals as new playable characters on February 21, 2025.
The announcement was made through a developer blog post alongside the Dev Vision Vol. 04 video.
Their inclusion will raise the character roster to 37 heroes and villains, and bring the second wave of content to Marvel Rivals’ first season: Eternal Night Falls.

The Thing joins Marvel Rivals as its latest Vanguard, boasting survivability and crowd control abilities.
He will be available to play across all modes including quickplay and competitive.
Marvel Rivals already released a character reveal trailer for The Thing showcasing his capabilities.
Here is a full breakdown of his kit.
- Passive – Solid as a Rock: Immune to knockback and similar displacement effects.
- Primary Attack – Combination Punch: Rapidly deal powerful punches for strong melee damage.
- Thunderbolt Punch: Charge a powerful punch that deals heavy damage to enemies in its path.
- Furious Charge: Rushes forward, knocking back enemies before performing a slam for area damage.
- Battlefield Support: Leaps toward a selected teammate to gain rock armor, reducing incoming damage for both him and the ally.
- Ultimate – Slam Moment: Send forward a powerful shockwave, lifting enemies into the air while dealing massive area damage.
- Team Up – Fastball Special: Similar to Hulk, The Thing can pick up Wolverine to hurl at enemies.
- Team Up – Cooperative Comrades: Invisible Woman grants all members of the Fantastic Four temporary damage resistance. While active, they can continuously generate bonus health.

Human Torch enters Marvel Rivals 20th Duellist, and the third character capable of flight alongside Iron Man and Storm.

Here is a full breakdown of his kit.
- Primary Attack – Fire Cluster: Shoots a fireball that can split into multiple smaller projectiles.
- Plasma Body: Hold to boost aerial movement speed.
- Blazing Blast: Launch a fireball to create a flame field at the targeted area.
- Pyro Prison: Connect flame fields to form a fire wall that deals burning damage to enemies.
- Flaming Meteor: Dive towards the ground and stun nearby enemies.
- Ultimate – Supernova: Unleash shockwaves to deal damage to enemies within range. During skill activation, the flame field will transform into a fire tornado.
- Team Up – Omega Fire: Storm can consume one of Human Torch’s fire tornadoes when casting Omega Hurricane to ignite it and deal more damage. While in her ultimate, Storm can enlarge other fire tornadoes on the field deployed by Human Torch.
- Team Up – United Siblings: Invisible Woman grants all members of the Fantastic Four temporary damage resistance. While active, they can continuously generate bonus health.
