Hades 2 Warsong update adds Ares and new final boss
Hades 2 developers Supergiant Games released its second major update for the roguelike, adding new gods and bosses to fight.
Melinoë, voiced by Judy Alice Lee, ventures back for another run on Olympus in the free Warsong update.
The early access update trailer was released on YouTube on February 19, 2025, revealing the new god Ares, a new final boss in Olympus, and more.
The patch notes also give us insight into what the update brings.
Ares is the god of war in Greek mythology, and in-game will offer new boons and blessings to strengthen the player across different runs.
Boons gifted by Ares focus on boosting damage, such as summoning blades or creating blood drops. Several of Ares’ boons focus on his unique status curse, “Wound,” which grants +50 to Melinoë’s outgoing damage.
The major update brings new story developments in Olympus, with over 2,000 new voice lines added to the game. The new music tracks, revamped abilities, and quality of life changes make the return to the rogue-like all the more enticing.
The update also brings a new end boss to fight, Typhon, for players looking for a new challenge to face. The battle will take place at the summit of the previously revealed map, Olympus. Undoubtedly, the other final bosses, Chronos and Prometheus, will have unique voice lines about the new boss.
Wile searching for G-Rocks in the Hades 2, players can also look forward to recruiting a new furry familiar. The fifth companion is a polecat named Gale, who helps players avoid damage.
There are also some smaller quality-of-life changes. Arcana cards now boast new art, such as The Swift Runner and The Champions cards revealed in the trailer. There are also new side activities, bringing new interactions with other characters in Hades 2, such as singing at the crossroads with Artemis.
Hades 2 is an action rogue-like and a sequel to the original 2020 hades title. The game is currently in early access and can be downloaded on Steam, alongside the free Warsong update.
