Fortnite Ballistic is a whole different ball game compared to the traditional battle royale experience you’re likely used to.
There’s no building to escape fights, an economy for weapons, and the biggest deviation – first person.
Looking at that economy, you’ll be purchasing weapons in something called a ‘buy phase’ and here, we’ll explain how this works and if you can refund anything you’ve bought.
How does the Fortnite Ballistic buy phase work?If you’ve ever played a tactical shooter before, you’ll be used to buying your loadout before each round starts.
This buy phase allows you to purchase guns, consumables, shields and kit for Credits which can then be used and if you do not die, you’ll keep them for the next round.
If you’re just starting a match, you’ll be given the Ranger Pistol and 800 Credits, which everyone receives to get them off the mark.
You can then earn Credits through winning rounds, eliminating enemies, and planting the Rift Point Device.
You do also get Credits for losing rounds but this is less than winning, and the number is different based on if you survived or not.
Here is the breakdown of Credits you earn for playing:
Survivability is key in Fortnite Ballistic so you need to be careful on what you spend your Credits on.
Shields will be a likely purchase but you’ll certainly need to speak with your team on whether you want to go all out on high value guns, or if you’re ‘saving’ for later rounds.
Can you refund in Fortnite Ballistic?Unfortunately, unlike other tactical shooters like CS:GO, once you purchase something during the buy phase, you cannot refund to get your Credits back.
This is a little unfortunate considering that miss clicks happen as well as last minute tactical changes that you might want to make based on other team mates’ picks.
Even though this is the case right now, since Ballistic has just launched, Epic could make a change and bring refunding into the fray.
If enough noise is there, requesting the devs to make this addition, we’re sure we’ll see it at least tested at some point in the future.
