There are a lot of survival games out there. The genre is more than surviving it is thriving. As live-service games die off all over the show there seems to be no sign that games that fundamentally let you punch a tree to death are going anywhere soon.
Astrometica is the latest to have a go at taking a slice of a survival pie and launches on the 10th of December to high anticipation. 80,000 Steam wishlists and 92% positive rating from over 1,000 players from its prologue suggests that the devs have got something right.
Genre-leaders in the base-building space survival box such as No Man’s Sky have had a decade to perfect their act, but Astrometica looks like it has taken a look at how things should be done and thought, ‘Hold my beer’
At its heart, it is a space exploration and base-building survival game. “After a catastrophic event, you must explore vast space, gather resources, build bases, and uncover cosmic mysteries. Use advanced technology, craft tools, and discover new blueprints to survive and thrive in the unknown.”
None of this is exactly ground-breaking but the mix of survival and space explorations takes it further than the genre – No Man’s Sky excepted – usually treads.
You can have a look at the trailer below and see if it is for you, but we figure if you have got this far down the page, then it probably will be.
Like pretty much every survival game in the last six years Astrometica will start off in Early Access and players will help shape its future. There is also a demo if you want to check it out before committing, but this one shows promise.
