Elon Musk’s Grok now remembers what you said
Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has rolled out a “memory” feature for its Grok chatbot, allowing it to recall details from past conversations and provide more personalized responses. The update, announced on Wednesday night, brings Grok closer to rivals like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.
Grok’s new capability enables it to “learn” user preferences over time, tailoring its recommendations and advice accordingly. The feature is currently available in beta on Grok.com and the Grok iOS and Android apps, although users in the EU or U.K. are excluded.

Users have control over Grok’s memory, with the ability to turn it off from the Data Controls page in the settings menu. Individual “memories” can also be deleted by tapping the icon beneath the memory from the Grok chat interface on the web, with a similar option coming soon to Android. xAI is working on extending the memory feature to the Grok experience on X.
Grok’s “memories are transparent,” according to the official Grok account on X, allowing users to see exactly what the bot knows and choose what to forget. This development follows similar memory features in ChatGPT and Gemini, which also tailor their responses to individual users.
