Coinbase donates $25 million to Fairshake PAC and shares strategy to help voices be heard

DATE POSTED:October 31, 2024
A cinematic shot of a cryptocurrency exchange platform, Coinbase. The logo is displayed prominently in the center of the screen. The background is a dynamic, animated scene of a city with skyscrapers, a bridge, and a ferry. There's a cryptocurrency symbol floating in the air above the city. The overall ambiance is futuristic and techy.

In an effort to keep cryptocurrency at the forefront, Coinbase has announced a donation of $25 million to crypto’s largest-ever nonpartisan PAC, Fairshake, and its affiliates in 2025.

It has also pledged to help the industry’s national grassroots advocacy organization, Stand with Crypto, increase its membership to four million advocates ahead of the 2026 Midterm Elections.

The crypto exchange platform say both of these efforts “will help ensure the 52 million Americans who have owned crypto remain a powerful voice in American politics.”

The news comes just less than a week ahead of the 2024 election which has caused many to wonder how the cryptocurrency industry will be impacted going forward.

It was on Wednesday (October 30) when the Coinbase team published a blog titled ‘Crypto is Here to Stay.’ It writes that “Crypto is ushering in a new wave of innovation in the United States, and that innovation is creating jobs, updating the financial system and strengthening our country’s national security.”

Looking forward, the company is focusing on the Midterm Elections as it suggests the “power of the crypto community should not be underestimated.”

Coinbase shares strategy to bolster the voice of crypto holders

Alongside the commitments, the crypto exchange says it has executed a three-pronged strategy with the first being educating policymakers, including members of Congress, on the “transformative power of a technology that represents the next generation of the internet.”

The next step was “to directly empower the millions of crypto owners directly by helping launch an independent, grassroots organization with the tools to help crypto supporters have their voices heard in Washington and in state capitals around the country.”

Finally, the company says it had to lock arms with others in the industry by supporting an independent pro-crypto super PAC, Fairshake and its affiliates, to “help ensure that crypto voters were a force in key elections around the country in order to affect change in American politics.”

While any potential regulatory changes are not yet known, with the next president undecided, Coinbase explained how they’re committed to remaining a strong force to keep the voices of crypto consumers and innovators to be heard.
