Crypto casino Playbet.io is set to partner up with British rapper Dizzee Rascal as its new brand ambassador.

Known for 2010 hits like ‘Dance wiv Me’ and ‘Bonkers’ and more recent grime albums, Playbet.io has announced Dizzee Rascal as its new brand ambassador. The partnership will include exclusive branded content and live streams featuring the British rapper.

“We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with one of the most legendary names in the music industry, Dizzee Rascal,” said Miguel Almeida, Chief Marketing Officer of Playbet.  “A true icon of success, Dizzee has captivated millions of fans worldwide, and we’re proud to welcome him as the newest ambassador for Playbet.io. This collaboration marks an exciting chapter for us, and we’re confident it’s going to be a hit.”

Since Playbet.io’s launch into the online crypto gambling space in 2024, it has expanded its online casino and sportsbook services to include slots, live dealer games, and coverage of major sports and esports events. Having Dizzee Rascal as an ambassador is the latest marketing push to tap into new markets.

“I’m excited to partner up with Playbet and be a part of this groundbreaking experience,” said the rapper. “I love to be a part of anything innovative and Playbet are doing big things globally, as am I. Let the games begin!”

Although Dizzee Rascal certainly has an international following, the London-born rapper might not be able to help build the UK market, thanks to the strict regulations from the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC). As both Playbet.io and parent company Bitx Operations have a license with the UKGC (being instead registered in Curaçao), it’s not compliant with player safety standards that UK license holders must.

Indeed, the surge in crypto casinos in other markets is not reflected in the UK, with the official UKGC guidance advises bettors not to play with offshore gambling sites with crypto support. This is due to fears around an increased risk of money laundering, with the anonymous payment options in crypto making it difficult to comply with anti-money laundering (AML) measures.
