Brazilian Ministry of Sports teams up with Sportradar to enhance sports betting integrity

DATE POSTED:May 15, 2025

In another step to protect the fairness of Brazilian sports betting, the Ministry of Sports has signed a significant cooperation agreement with Sportradar.

This new partnership, formalized on May 15, aims to boost transparency, ethics, and fair play by combating match-fixing within Brazil’s rapidly growing sports betting market.

Under the agreement, Sportradar will provide the Brazilian Ministry of Sports with essential resources, including specialized monitoring of betting activities using its impressive Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS).

Sportradar will also offer robust training to ministry staff, beginning with a workshop which will include participation from Brazil’s Ministry of Finance.

Brazilian Minister of Sports, André Fufuca, emphasized the importance of this step, stating: “Today we signed a milestone agreement in the fight against match-fixing in Brazilian sports. Integrity must be a constant principle when it comes to transparency, ethics, and, above all, the fairness of sports results.”

He continued, highlighting that this initiative will equip Brazil with the necessary tools to tackle corruption effectively and build public trust in sporting competitions.

“This way, athletes, clubs, organizations, fans, and the entire population will be able to trust the fairness of the outcomes and, in turn, have the confidence to unlock the full potential of Brazilian sports,” Fufuca added.

Andreas Krannich, Executive Vice President of Integrity and Regulatory Services at Sportradar, echoed this message, saying, “Establishing this partnership with the Ministry of Sports is an important milestone in strengthening sports integrity in Brazil.”

Krannich explained that Sportradar’s cutting-edge technology will play a big role in identifying suspicious betting activities, emphasizing that effective protection of sports requires close collaboration between public authorities and private companies.

The cooperation with Sportradar further strengthens the Brazilian government’s broader initiative on integrity, following similar agreements recently signed with major organizations such as Genius Sports, IBIA, and SIGA.

Sportradar itself has also expanded its integrity network in Brazil, signing agreements with regional sports authorities, football federations, and law enforcement bodies.

This new partnership compounds what Brazil has been doing in recent times, committing to aligning with international best practices, and ensuring its sports betting environment remains transparent, secure, and fair for everyone.
