Avowed Message from Afar quest: Should you help The Voice or not?

As you’re questing in Avowed, while a lot of the time you’ll be cracking puzzles or slashing enemies, there are moments when you’re given important dialogue choices that could hinder you if you don’t pick correctly.

The first quest of the game — On Stranger Shores — gives you one of these in whether you should free or leave Ilora, and Message from Afar challenges you once more.

Here, we’ll be taking a look at if you should help The Voice or not in Avowed so you know what the outcomes are, and can take the path that’s right for you.

After initially speaking with Captain Cynric and Kai at the dock, you’ll gain Kai as a companion and begin the Message from Afar quest.

You’ll first have to break down some brambles upon entering The Strangleroot cave and during this time, you’ll start to hear The Voice.

You won’t make the aforementioned decision yet though, you have to progress, defeat a few enemies, and even take on a Dreamthrall Elder Brown Bear boss, who is no slouch.

After beating the Bear and speaking to Ambassador Falseen Hylgard, you’ll then be told to examine the Adra Pillar.

This will begin the proper conversation with The Voice who states that they have been waiting for you to arrive and that you are a familiar face.

The Voice subsequently goes on to tell you that land is corrupted and it will give you the gift of its “healing touch” as long as you promise to help it in return.

You now have the important choice of if you choose to help The Voice or not.

If you do want to help, you’ll be given the Dream Touch Godlike ability which not only allows you to revive your companions, it also deals damage to Delemgan, Dreamthralls, and Vessels.

If you instead choose to not make a deal with The Voice, you’ll be given the Godlike Ability, which provides you with a bonus Ability Point to use in either the Fighter, Ranger, or Wizard Ability Trees.

So, which is best? Well, we think you might as well choose to help The Voice as the Dream Touch ability can be key to succeeding in some really tough fights, and there is nowhere else in the game you can get it.

The Godlike Ability is nice as you can choose where to spend it but there are other times you can get this so it’s not worth in our opinion.
