ASUS has indicated a shift away from smartphone production, with Chairman Jonney Shih stating the company plans no new phone models. Shih did not confirm a complete phase-out of smartphones but acknowledged the possibility.
The company will continue to provide software updates and warranty assistance for its existing smartphone product line. Future plans may involve AI-related projects, such as robotics or smartglasses, according to Shih.
Previously, reports suggested a suspension of smartphone releases in 2026; however, Shih’s recent statements imply a potentially longer hiatus. ASUS also introduced new products at CES, including dual-screen laptops and gaming smartglasses.
