Tasks view is finally here on Google Calendar for Android

Android users of the Google Calendar app will be pleased with its latest update – at last, you can view all of your tasks in one place.

Previously, Google would also hide tasks that did not have a specific due date on the mobile app. The new update also remedies this.

It allows users to view all of their tasks on one full-screen, including tasks without a date attached to them. Users can also add new tasks here and mark them as complete.

First users should make sure they have the latest version of the app. Once open, the calendar is displayed. At the top, there should be a new icon next to the Today button (a calendar displaying the current day’s date). This circle with a checkmark is the Tasks button.

When tapped, users can now easily see and edit all of their tasks in one place. This streamlining of the function does make the individual Google Tasks app a bit pointless, however. There’s not much point in having that app if you can do everything in the calendar now.

According to Google’s announcement on Friday (Nov. 22), the update is now being rolled out to users signed up for rapid release and those with the default setting, scheduled release. It will be available for personal Google accounts, Google Workspace customers, and individual Google Workspace subscribers.

The full-screen task view was first rolled out on Google Calendar’s web version last year. There’s no word yet though if the function will be coming to the iOS app any time soon.

Friday’s announcement also shared updates to the Google Drive Android app. It will make it easier to find recently viewed files.
