Big news in the world of VR ahead of this month’s major launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 as Microsoft has now chosen Pimax, and in particular, the Piimax Crystal Light headset, as their official peripheral partner for Virtual Reality headsets.
This is following the announcement that Virtual Reality in MSFS2024 will receive full support from Microsoft and Asobo, meaning that MSFS2024 comes with improved performance for VR. Additionally, VR is confirmed to be working from day one of the simulator, which goes live on 19 November 2024.
Microsoft stated earlier in the year that it had now had some 15 million virtual pilots take to the skies in Flight Simulator 2020, and now the 2024 iteration is about to arrive, and sim excitement has never been higher, especially now that VR alongside the Crystal Light will boost the experience to insane immersion levels for those who play in virtual reality
Robin Weng, founder of Pimax said, “Many of our users use our VR headsets for flight or racing sims because the specs really let you experience these hyper-realistic sims in the best possible way. The Crystal Light has 2880 x 2880 resolution at 120 Hz and because of the DisplayPort cable, there is no visual compression or color banding. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 looks increasingly realistic and with this partnership, we really see both our products work together flawlessly. It’s a huge honor for us to be affiliated with MSFS and it also feels like a reward for all the hard work we’ve done over the past few years.”
Microsoft meanwhile said: “We have an incredible, dedicated VR fanbase in our community, and we know how important the right headset is when flying! The Pimax Crystal Light is a great PCVR headset for flight simmers who crave stunning clarity and deep immersion and a fantastic choice to experience Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 in stunning detail.”
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 goes live on Steam, Xbox and Game Pass on 19 November 2024.
